My name is Andrew (Andy) Walker and I am a new chess organiser who is hosting the “Cabin Fever Breakout” chess tournament. This event will take place at the Best Western hotel on Wolf Road, Albany in the third week of February. The details are included below and at this link.

I would like to ask for your assistance in spreading the word about this event. Also your playing support and that of all your friends and students will be appreciated. My goal is to hold tournaments in the NY, CT, NJ and MA areas while popularising chess and providing lots of enjoyable, safe competitions for all.

Daaim Shabazz

Daaim Shabazz is the founder of The Chess Drum, while serving as a tenured faculty member of Global Business & Marketing at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, USA. He holds a B.S. Computer Science from Chicago State University, an MBA in Marketing and a Ph.D. in International Affairs & Development, both from Clark Atlanta University. He has served the journalist community for more than 30 years and still competes in tournaments occasionally.
