Dexter Thompson wins Japan Rapids!

Dexter Thompson, a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do, has been in Japan on the martial arts circuit for the past few years. The U.S. National Chess Master has also found time for chess and on June 18th and 19th, participated in the All-Japan Rapid Open. Thompson was the two-time defending champion and successfully defended his title in a battle between the tournament two top seeds. Playing the white pieces, Thompson bested Ethiopian champion and top seed Abenet Bekele in the last-round clash, thus completing a "three-peat." Apart from his chess success, Thompson will compete in the  Tae Kwon Do championships this year.
