Briefing sessions are now taking place in South Africa for the upcoming South African IM Invitational scheduled for May. Chief Organizer Jackie Ngubeni has announced the tentative line-up. Four players have tendered verbal commitments while others have either expressed interest or have pending invitations.
The possible line-up (Title, Name, Country, FIDE rating) is as follows:
NM Stanley Chumfwa (ZAM) 2229 IM David Gluckman (RSA)2392 verbally committed IM Robert Gwaze (ZIM) 2280 verbally committed IM Watu Kobese (RSA) 2412 verbally committed NM Nase Lungu (ZAM) 2262 NM Malupande Lungu (ZAM) 2295 Solomon Mauba (RSA) UNR GM Vadim Milov (SUI) 2595 Ofentse Molale (BOT) 2081 FM Stephen Muhammad (USA) 2317 NM Ignatius Njobvu (BOT) 2169 Polite Salani (BOT) 2200 NM Deon Solomons (RSA) 2265 IM Amon Simutowe (ZAM) 2368 verbally committed IM Mohammed Tissir (MAR)2368
The cross-section of players represent an interesting mix and should result in some spirited match-ups. The event's Steering Committee may recommend a 14-round event in which case players may play two games on one weekend. Further details of confirmations will be announced at least a week prior to the tournament.
