Nigeria is home to 150 million inhabitants and many millions abroad. The Nigerian Diaspora is spread far and wide and represents one of the largest and most active African expatriate group. The American chess scene has gotten used to one particular player who is also know for his blitz prowess… IM Oladapo Adu. Based in Maryland, he is a very active player and a genuine student of the game.

In this game from the 2008 World Open, he plays
Raymond Kaufman and enters a peculiar opening after 1.e4 c6 2.d3!? The game then entered a Scotch. The game was tense, but white developed a space advantage and then the game took a turn and black was suddenly under a fierce attack. Adu also played another interesting game against WGM Aarthie Ramaswamy of India.
