LASCO Jamaican Chess League -  Round #4
(Report by Peter Myers)

Peter Myers, “Knightmares trample King Rippers to take lead in LASCO Chess League,” Jamaican Chess Federation, 11 April 2006 (Clarendon, Jamaica).

The Knightmares chess team handed King Rippers their third straight defeat on Sunday, to overtake the Blitzkrieg Boys atop the LASCO Chess League. Despite using two reserves, Knightmares were still too much for the hapless Rippers, defeating them 3.5 – 0.5. Winning for the Knightmares were Warren Elliott on Board 1 against Robert Wheeler, Equitable Brown against John Powell on Board 2 and Maurice Robinson against Annesha Smith on Board 4. Gary Hew salvaged a half point for the Rippers on Board 3 against Mikhail Solomon.

Reggae Knights resuscitated their championship hopes by registering a convincing 3.5 – 0.5 victory over the Little Giants and Gladiators were held to a 2 – 2 draw by Varcon CC.

Knightmares now sit atop the league on 11.5 points, followed by the Blitzkrieg Boys and Varcon CC on 9 points each. Despite having a match in hand, the Blitzkrieg Boys are yet to face the #2 ranked Knightmares and #3 ranked Gladiators.

The League continues this Saturday at the Holy Childhood Library, when Little Giants will battle Gladiators, King Rippers will duel Reggae Knights and in the top of the table clash, Blitzkrieg Boys will face Knightmares.
