Top seeds Blitzkrieg Boys, playing with their second string line-up, defeated the Little Giants 3-1 on Sunday, to become sole leaders of the LASCO Chess League. Winning for the Boys were Brandon Wilson against Hakim Buchanan on Board 1 and Alain Morais against Tewana Mellace on Board 3. Blitzkrieg’s Allan Wilson on Board 2 and Ramon Jackson on Board 4 registered draws against Stuart James and Brian Ewbank respectively.

In other Round 2 matches played on Sunday, the #4 ranked Varcon CC scored a mild upset when they defeated the #2 ranked Knightmares 2.5 – 1.5 and the #3 ranked Gladiators dismissed the #6 ranked Reggae Knights 3-1.

After two rounds, the standings are Blitzkrieg Boys – 5.5/8, Gladiators – 4.5/8, Varcon CC and Knightmares each on 4/8, Little Giants – 3.5/8, King Rippers – 1.5/4 and Reggae Knights – 1/4.

Round 3 begins at 1 pm on Saturday at the Holy Childhood High School Library, when King Rippers will challenge the Blitzkrieg Boys in the feature match, Varcon CC will battle Reggae Knights and Little Giants will confront Knightmares.
