President Bhisham Boondarsingh reports that  the Trinidad Chess Federation has crowned their age-category champions last weekend. Defending national under-12 and under-10, champions Keron Cabralis and Ronnie Nelson Jr., successfully defended their titles in fine style, scoring perfect 7-0 scores. Stephanie Hassang took the Girls' competition.

In many cases categories were combined due to the small number of participants, so Nelson was declared both the under-10 and under-8 champion. Nelson has been featured a number of times here at The Chess Drum and recently represented Trinidad at the Orange Bowl in Miami.  The under-20 championship were also taking place and ends today.
Marcus Joseph is the reigning champion and is expected to repeat.
