Steven Kawuma writes on his FM feat
Uganda Uganda Uganda

Steven Kawuma has long been thought to be the heir apparent to many Ugandan chess legends. He has represented his country in a number of tournaments including the Olympiad. In the recent African Chess Championships held in Windhoek, Namibia, the University of Makerere alumnus writes about his journey to earn the FIDE Master title. He writes in a round-by-round manner recounting his preparations, the games he played and the lessons he learned.

Kawuma penned the essay after encouragement from
Isaac Munanira. Hopefully there will be more essays written about these experiences. With Amon Simutowe's recent GM feat and Robert Gwaze's winning of the continental championship, there seems to be a lot of inspiration to go around. It is also important that these experiences are documented so that we may draw lessons from them.
