The Chess Drum celebrates its 4th Anniversary!
The Chess Drum, https://www.thechessdrum.net/

Dear Drum Visitors:

The Chess Drum turns four today! The site was created on
February 12, 2001 with the idea of providing a vehicle for showcasing the immense talents of Black players around the world. What has been the biggest challenge in the four years? Apart from the maintenance and the difficult editorial decisions, the biggest challenge has been creating innovative stories that one cannot get anywhere else.

This site has blossomed into 4300 pages… an unimaginable thought years ago. While I don't look for special consideration, I continue to be humbled by words of encouragement I receive from people far and wide. Many times it is not the regular visitors, but people who have stumbled onto the site via a search engine. It inspires me to work another day because another life has been touched.

Thanks to all webmasters and chess enthusiasts who have linked to or referred to content on the site. Thanks to those who have mentioned The Chess Drum to a friend. Finally, a special "thank you" is extended to those who made contributions to the anniversary fundraiser! Your contributions, no matter how large or small, were greatly appreciated. It is my hope that (in 2005) the beat will get louder, continue to inform, inspire and educate.
