GM Susan Polgar in Atlanta for Chess Camp

Grandmaster Susan Polgar (pictured right) is serving as instructor at a chess camp in Atlanta aptly called, "Mighty Knights III & Lady Bughouse II." Boys and girls from ages 6-15 are participating in the four-day camp. There have been a host of interesting activities including swimming, making chess chocolates and cookies (!) and of course plenty of chess activities.

Polgar has blazed a revolutionary path with the zeal of a chess missionary. This vision is shared by the tireless efforts of
Kay Umeakunne who organized this fabulous camp. Umeakunne has also been an ardent worker in promoting girls chess and once flew all the way from Atlanta to New York to hand-deliver a 24" cake for the Polgar Chess Center grand opening. Amazing!

Certainly, the baking will go over well with the kids as the cakes are popular fixtures at Atlanta scholastic tournaments… thanks to Umeakunne. (see her skills here) Tomorrow and Friday will feature two activities certain to cap off an exciting camp.
