Kaleem Washington: A Star on the U.S. Horizon

Willette Seaward has been involved with the Olympic Chess House in Washington, DC and has helped Executive Director  Vaughn Bennett build an organization designed to provide youth in the inner city an opportunity to flourish in the sport of chess. Ms. Seaward has a vested interest in seeing the organization thrive not only because of her position as a Tournament Director, but due more to the fact that her son is a rising star in DC chess.

Kaleem Washington has built up an impressive résumé of tournament success and including winning both the Virginia and Maryland  elementary championships in the span of two weekends. According to Vaughn Bennett, no other player has accomplished this feat.  "We hope to be able to attend the USCF Elementary Nationals next month in (Nashville, Tennessee) but I am in need of funding for our trip."
