Jamaica's Matthews set to Defend Crown!

The 2003 Jamaica KRYS FINANCIAL SOFTWARE SPONSORED National Chess Championships will get started this Saturday at 1:00 pm, at the Norman Manley Law School, UWI., with Reigning Champion NM Shane Matthews defending his Title against 11 other Chess players.

This years field of 12 players will include (Six) 6 National Masters, including many-time National Champions
NM Jomo Pitterson, NM Robert Wheeler and NM Duane Rowe.

NM Mark Holness from the West, and NM Russel Porter, who is making a long awaited return to chess, rounds off the remaining National Masters in the Tournament.

This year's Tournament will feature an exciting blend of youth and experience since a few of the Islands top Juniors are also included in the field, and will no doubt be challenging the National Masters for Supremacy. The Juniors include reigning Harold Open Champ Malaku Lorne, 2003 Junior Champion, Alain Morais and 2002 Junior Champion Daren Wisdom.
