Bert Scott, "FIDE Master Warren Elliott is Jamaica's New #1," Jamaican Ambassadors Chess Academy."

After 6½ years Jamaica now has a new number 1 chess player! This following FM Warren Elliott's tremendous performance in the 2003 UWI Open Chess Championships. This is his fourth title of the year and enabled him to surpass Shane Matthews for the elusive top spot. His local rating is now 2380, a far cry from most players in the island.

The

At the release of the latest JCF ratings selection index,
FM Warren Elliott is Jamaica's new number one rated chess player after NM Shane Matthews had held the number 1 spot for a number of years. See the report here.
