Trinidad  hosts FIDE's Gelfer at Junior Chess Fete!

The Trinidad and Tobago Junior Chess Federation
wishes to invite all Junior Chess players to meet chess master Israel Gelfer, who will be talking to junior chess players on Tuesday 2nd April at St. Mary's College from 2.00 p.m.

Mr. Gelfer is chairman of the Committee for Assistance to Chess Developing Countries of FIDE (the World Chess Body). He represented Israel in the Chess Olympiad on numerous occasions, captaining both the men and women's teams and serving as Israel's National Coach for several years.

The Trinidad and Tobago Junior Chess Federation (an affiliate of the Trinidad and Tobago Chess Association) stages its National Easter Open Team Tournament on Easter Monday, April 1st at St Mary's College from 8.30 a.m. The registration is $20.00 per team (4 players).
Also, the Annual General Meeting the Junior Chess federation will take place on Monday the 1st of April, 2002 from 1.00 p.m.

We wish to urge all junior chess players to come out in their numbers for this important event.

On Tuesday 2nd, the National Junior Blitz Tournament will be contested at the same venue. Mr. Gelfer will address juniors at the end of the blitz tournament, after which the prize-given ceremony will take place.

Mr. Gelfer is expected to talk on International Junior events and preparation of junior chess players for participation in FIDE international events. This talk will also assist a junior team, which will leaves for Barbados three days later on Friday 5th April, 2002.
