NM Pitterson crowned as Jamaica's Blitz Champion!

Jamaica

NM Jomo Pitterson bested NM Shane Matthews in the country's National Blitz Championship. The 24-game match took place at the Sovereign Centre as a crowd of onlookers watched Jamaica's #1 and #2 players battle for the country's "fastest player." Matthews had been in the blitz final every years since 1994, winning five times. The match lived up to it's billing as it was tied 8-8. Pitterson turned up his game a notch, built up a surmountable lead and won the match 13-10.  The new champion also lead the Juniors to a 6½-5½ win over the Seniors recently with a tie-breaking win over Pete Myers.
