Jamaica to hold its 1st National Cadet Chess Championship

Bertram Scott, Vice President of the Jamaican Chess Federation, has announced that the organization will hold its 1st Cadet Championship for players under the age of 14. This event will coincide with 2001 National Chess Championship Festival which takes place July 28 through August 26. Three championships will be held: Men's, Women's and the Cadet. The idea for the Cadet is to harness young talent and to provide venues for rapid development. Jamaica has very ambitious goals for producing their 1st International Master. . . and then Grand Master! For more information see the following websites:
