Zambian Closed Championship

The Chess Federation of Zambia wishes to advise that the 2011 Zambia Closed Chess Championships will be held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre from Saturday, October 22 to Monday, October 24, 2011.

In addition to the main event, the Championship section, the tournament will also incorporate youth age group sections for the following ranges:

Under 8 years (boys and girls) – players born on or after January 1, 2003
Under 10 years (boys and girls) – players born on or after January 1, 2001
Under 12 years (boys and girls) – players born on or after January 1, 1999
Under 14 years (boys and girls) – players born on or after January 1, 1997
Under 16 years (boys and girls) – players born on or after January 1, 1995
Under 18 years (boys and girls) – players born on or after January 1, 1993

The Championship event will be for the title of the 2011 Zambia Closed Chess Champion whilst the age group events will produce the National individual youth age group champions for the year 2011. These National youth age group champions will automatically qualify to represent Zambia at the 2011 African Youth Chess Championships to be hosted by Zambia at the Baobab College in Lusaka from Saturday, December 10th to Monday, December 19, 2011.

All the event sections of the 2011 Zambia Closed Chess Championships will be FIDE RATED and will allow the Federation commence a FIDE approved database. The tournament will be played over nine rounds starting from Saturday, October 22 to Monday, October 24, 2011. The time control will be ONE HOUR for each player, with no increment, for completion of the game.
