Simutowe examines the Science of Chess
Perhaps it would serve us more as chess players if we paid attention to psychology, statistics and probability more often. We simply play chess. The aforementioned details… no matter how small, matter a great deal… at least at master level.

Zambian International Master Amon Simutowe penned an essay about key games in the New Jersey Futurity International event. He gave an incisive look at his game against American IM, Dean Ippolito. In the game, which he annotates deeply, he reflects on his understanding of psychology, statistics and probability during battle. He also discusses his misuse of it in his games with Sergey Erenburg (a tragic loss) and Leonid Yudasin (a tame draw). Interesting insight!
