Kasparov coming to Harlem!

Harlem Children's Zone Festival, September 28th 2008

Garry Kasparov will be coming to Harlem on September 28th to participate in the Harlem Children’s Zone’s festival. The former champion will be giving a 20-board simultaneous exhibition. There will be many activities including a blitz tournament and other contests.

This event continues the tradition of chess festivals in historic Harlem and it has been home to a vibrant chess community. Maurice Ashley held several chess festivals in the 90s as part of his initiative with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund. Those events were successful until funding dried up. Harlem has continued to produce talent and this event will bring out many future masters hoping to take on Kasparov.

Jerald Times, a successful coach in his own right, will co-host the event with Derrick Bryant. If you have further questions, contact Derrick Bryant at LiMuBi11@aol.com. Click on the image above for the .pdf file.
