Chess Duel: Sevian vs. Grandelius

Sweden’s best chess player Nils Grandelius will challenge Sam Sevian, USA, in a duel. The two rapid games 15 min + 10 sec will be broadcast live on Expressen TV on January 5th at 8:30pm CET (2:30pm EST).

GM Pontus Carlsson just returned from the Qatar Masters with rave reviews, but he has reported to The Chess Drum that some spectacular is brewing in Sweden. There are a number of innovation trending now in the chess world including banter chess, Twitch and exhibition “Death Matches”.

Sweden will host a “Chess Duel” between American Grandmaster Samuel Sevian and Swedens’ Nils Grandelius. Both are bright young stars for their respective countries and play very exciting brand of chess. The two-game match will be a rapid format (15m+10s) and broadcast on Sweden and Norwegian TV. An interesting addition is that the players will be monitored during the contest. Following is an explanation:

The Duelists Sam Sevian and Nils Grandelius will use heart rate monitor during the two rapid games on Expressen TV January 5th, 20:30 CET.

Anders Nilsson is the trainer with this program, Heartmath. Anders Nilsson was one of the key figures behind the swedish U21 national team’s gold medal in European Championship in football this summer.

The goal with Heartmath is that the athlete can better control their inner feelings and stay “in the zone” and perform at their best when it comes to most.

Television viewers will now for the first time see how the feelings are of chess players in the midst of a dramatic game.
