Be Someone in Lithonia on 11/15 at 10!

Here’s a question for you… Can chess save lives? If your instructor is Orrin “Checkmate” Hudson, the answer is, “Definitely!”

Hudson will bring his life-size chess board and special chess instructional skills to the Lithonia Stonecrest Library, Saturday, November 15, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. as well as his unique KASH Formula for Success for young people. KASH? Knowledge, Attitude, Skills, and Habits. Hudson has used this message to make a difference in young lives for the past 15 years. Once an at risk youngster, Hudson turned his life around thanks to an instructor who used the game of chess to teach critical life lessons. He is now on a mission to pay back and reach young people who may face risks of their own.

“I learned that you have choices to make on the chess board. One wrong move and you lose,” he stresses. “But life is not a game. A wrong move there and you could be finished. My goal is to teach that lesson to as many young people as I can through this wonderful game.” Hudson has traveled throughout the U.S. and overseas accompanied by his ever-present chess board. He is making a difference.

  1. Nice post Daaim, good to see the work Mr. Hudson is doing in the ATL. The Library is where one can LEARN a lot about chess, as a matter of fact im here right now, IN REAL LIFE! Im at The BUFFALO PUBLIC LIBRARY! lookin at some of the top games , just saw naka win the blitz vs aronian, not bad.One thing I recall about asking the Librarians about chess is that no matter what question I had on chess they would always give me an ANSWER! Now after about 25 years of askin them questions I don’t ask too much anymore, Im surprised they don’t call me MR. QUESTIONS!!! haha I guess ive LEARNED a few things. Peace and stay Beautiful!!!
