Friends please note that the Zim Open is on 29th Dec to 1st January 2013. Entry Fees are $10.00 Adults $5.00 Scholars. $20.00 will be paid by Visitors. IM’s Chitumbo Mwale, Gwaze, Mabusela, FM Makoto Are invited and will be exempt from entry fees. They will be paid for by the ZCF. We are extending an Invitation to the Botswana and SA Federations and we may get players from Malawi this year… Happy chess. Please also note that sponsorship allowing we also plan to host the Harare Grand Prix on 22 and 23 December 2012… so Two big weekends of chess will be on offer…

There were a lot of comments between Zimbabwe and Zambian players. Let us see who will dominate this year!

Daaim Shabazz is the founder of The Chess Drum, while serving as a tenured faculty member of Global Business & Marketing at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, USA. He holds a B.S. Computer Science from Chicago State University, an MBA in Marketing and a Ph.D. in International Affairs & Development, both from Clark Atlanta University. He has served the journalist community for more than 30 years and still competes in tournaments occasionally.

  1. An unrated zambian unexpectedly wins the tournament again. What an interesting event it was. Good performance from the zambian contingent. Go zambia Go!! Lets dominate our sub-regions chess events.
