On 20th July, 2012 the chessists of KIDS CHESS ACADEMY was the first group of graduates, of the S.T.E.P. (Social Training and Empowerment Programme) – “We are all winners “ projects, another initiative of Save Our Children Foundation.
The rising young leaders were the coordinators of the graduation ceremony, Tyrese Henry was the Master of Ceremonies, with much precision and confidence.

Our special guest speaker Lisa Perez-Phillip gave a powerful and enlightening presentation, as she took the time to share about the person of Lesley-Ann Nelson, the founder and president of Save Our Children Foundation and KIDS Chess Academy as ”someone who has dedicated her life calling in educating children and empowering them with the necessary skills to be leaders in today’s world. She is tireless in her mission,” says Mrs. Perez-Phillip.
The Valectorian Jada Thomas shared how important the lectures in leadership, communication, etiquette, chess, drama, story-telling.
The graduates of K.I.D.S CHESS ACADEMY Lebron Alfred, Tyrese Henry, Tyrell Lewis, Zachary Parsanlal, Christian Ali, Mirakel Philip, Ronnie Nelson, Neria Charles is part of a 10 member team that will be representing Trinidad and Tobago at the 14th Junior Orange Bowl Scholastic Chess Championship, Miami from the 27th-29th December 2012 to be hosted at Mariott International Hotel, Miami.

It’s great to be forming an Academy or maybe a club that encourages children to learn the art of chess. Not only does it bring fun among kids, it also develops their mental and problem solving skills. It’s definitely a useful and helpful program dedicated towards children.
