Spring Break Chess Camp (Atlanta)

We are proud to announce our Spring Break Chess Camp. This year’s camp will be held from April 4-8th, 2011. The camp is from 9am – 3pm everyday. Campers are welcome to stay later for the free session. Registration will open February 7, 2011 at chess-coach.net. There will be a limited amount of scholarships available. We have chess instructors coming from all over. If you are interested in being a chess instructor for the Spring Break session contact frankjohnson@chess-coach.net.

The camp is limited to the first 50 registrants. Each instructor will spend time with every student in break out sessions throughout the day. There will be two rated events during the camp. Non-rated blitz and bughouse tournaments will also be conducted. Food will be provided daily. Campers will be free to engage players after the daily session ends until the club closes.

Registration opens February 7th and will close when we have 50 students. There will be a 10 student waiting list. Scholarships are available. Additional information available at chess-coach.net.

Daaim Shabazz

Daaim Shabazz is the founder of The Chess Drum, while serving as a tenured faculty member of Global Business & Marketing at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, USA. He holds a B.S. Computer Science from Chicago State University, an MBA in Marketing and a Ph.D. in International Affairs & Development, both from Clark Atlanta University. He has served the journalist community for more than 30 years and still competes in tournaments occasionally.

  1. Thanks everyone for all the well wishes. We are still looking for a couple additional coaches. Primary requirement for coach/instructor is you must be over 2200.
