WCC 2010-6: Topalov presses but no point

Veselin Topalov knows that he will have to build some momentum since he is a point down in a short match. In Game #6, Topalov gained that momentum by outplaying Viswanathan Anand in the latter stages of the game, but unfortunately was unable to score a full point. Nevertheless, this game had to have been a morale booster for Team Topalov who has been outplayed in Games 2-5. (See Game #6)

Topalov finishes the first half of the match down a point, but within striking distance. He will start the second half with the black pieces and chess fans can look for some changes in match strategy and time runs short. Anand will attempt to improve on his Catalan (since Topalov has made improvements) or switch to 1.e4.

  1. Clearly an Enigmatic game , i cant seem to find a strategical explaination for all those horse jumps on any of the traditional sites. maybe someone can ask Kramnik since its his opening according to their commentary on their websites! Um puzzled ive never seen anything like that in their books , how can Vishy get away with that vs one of their top guys?
