In a plea for help, Lesley-ann Nelson has appealed to the chess community for assistance for her nephew, RJ Nelson. He is scheduled to compete in the 2007 Pan-Am Youth tournament in Medellin, Columbia, but has not been able to attract sponsorships.

His aunt has approached NCC TV with
Ruskin Mark and host, Jaye-Q Baptiste to make a public appeal. Efforts soliciting the Ministry of Sports bore fruit, but the offer did not cover the entire expenses for RJ and his chaperon. The amount would be TT$9000.00 (US$1500.00).

In a letter dated 24th of June, Nelson recounted RJ's accomplishments which include the two-time under-10 champion and several honors at the Miami Orange Bowl tournament.  Those desirious of helping can contact Lesley-ann Nelson at 1-868-775-2358 or, lescarmn32@yahoo.com.
