2006 Olympiad: Photo Expressions in Turin, Italy

It is said that a picture is worth 1000 thousands. If that is indeed the case then volumes can be written about the Turin Olympiad.  During the two weeks, there were a number of stories circulating throughout the hall and some were as grandiose at Morocco's upset of India to a team scoring their first team win after many attempts. Agony, happiness, joy and pain are often captured at chess tournaments, but mostly chess is captured in the throes of battle. It is up to the photographer to capture unique expressions and aesthetic novelties to capture a story. The Chess Drum's Daaim Shabazz was in Turin for the first five days of the Olympiad and captured a few hundred shots of the action. Assembled in several galleries are some interesting stories, but of course the pictures will have to do much of the storytelling! Enjoy!
