Amon Simutowe is the Texas State Champion!

International Master Amon Simutowe won the Texas State Championship with a perfect 7-0 score. Reminiscent of the tournament wins he garnered in the past, the Zambian national defeated the #2, #3 and #4 players enroute to his crown.

After coming off of a strong showing in the
HB Global Chess Challenge, the 23-year old star at the University of Texas-Dallas is beginning to show good results and hopes to carry the momentum into the African Championships which will be held July in his native country of Zambia.

A stellar finance and economics student, he also has his sights set on tournaments in Europe in the near future in hopes to earn his 3rd and final GM norm.
