Kenya's strongest tournament took place at the Checkmates Chess Club and attracted the nation's top players in an exciting nine round-robin format. Mehul Gohil won the event with  5½-3½ with his only loss coming against Matthew Kanegeni

The tournament took place in Nairobi, Kenya on two consecutive Sunday afternoons.
Alex Makatia was the Tournament Director and also serves as the Chair of the Checkmates Chess Club. The club has a website with the membership information, tournament schedule, contact information and some very interesting photos (of a dinner party)!
