Reflections of the HB Global Chess Challenge

The HB Global Chess Challenge was a rousing success as nearly 1700 players trekked to Minneapolis, Minnesota to play in this historic event. To make sure that these events are not soon forgotten, it is important to provide some account of  what the atmosphere was like.

Apart from the
Internet Chess Club/Chess.FM, Internet coverage was surprising lacking as only the results, games and crosstables were given. However, the real emotions of the players and the electricity were not captured. Thus, The Chess Drum brings you an essay which hopes to give you a semblance of how special this tournament was.
