In an effort to build transcontinental bridges across the African Diaspora, The Chess Drum's  Dr. Daaim Shabazz along with Zambian ace IM Amon Simutowe will travel to Jamaica. This may mark the first time in history that such a Pan-African chess linkage has been made between North America, the Caribbean and mainland Africa. Both Shabazz and Simutowe will be there during the Harold Chan Open tournament and hope to take part in the festivities. Jamaican Chess Federation President Ian Wilkinson will serve as host and introduce the guests to the greater Jamaican chess community.
