Zambia Sharpens Skills for All-Africa Games

Kennedy Gondwe, "Chess Federation of Zambia Organises National Championship for Al Africa Games," The Post, 14 September (Lusaka, Zambia).

THE Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) has organised a national championship for the All Africa Games bound squad as part of the country's preparations.

CFZ president
Lewis Ncube said yesterday the competition would take place next weekend at Chainama hotel. He said the reason for having the championship was to help the players prepare for the Abuja games starting next month. "The championship will involve the top 10 male players and the top six female players," said Ncube. He said male participants would play nine rounds and five for female.  "The importance of this championship is to build up for the All Africa Games," he added.

CFZ has submitted a team of 12 female and male players to the National Olympic Committee for consideration for the All Africa Games. Ncube said United States-based
Amon Simutowe would fly to Nigeria from his base.
