Maurice Ashley to visit Indy July 11-14!

Indiana is know for one thing. Well at least two things… basketball and the birthplace of megastar, Michael Jackson. However, "The Hoosier State" is also home to some pretty good chess players. FM Emory Tate grew up in  Indiana as well as NMs Peter Bereolos, the late Billy Colias and Jason Doss to name a few. The state association plans to develop a cadre of young players to keep the tradition alive. On July 11th, the Indiana State Chess Association will begin entertaining GM Maurice Ashley for a weekend of youth chess festivities.

The association has organized an array of events including autograph sessions, several simultaneous exhibitions, lectures and analysis. GM Ashley will also visit Academy Parham, a very successful chess school founded and operated by
Bernard Parham, the creator of the "Matrix Chess System." The event will end on Monday July 14th with a simultaneous exhibition and photo/autograph session. The event is sponsored by the Old Centrum Foundation and hopes to draw the youth from around the state.
