The "Exterminator" blazes field at St. John's to earn 2nd IM norm!

FM William Morrison is also known by many as "The Exterminator." That's exactly what he did to his opponents at the St. John's International tournament June 18-27, scoring a 2nd place finish (to IM-elect Justin Sarkar). Playing inspired chess throughout, the personable FIDE Master suffered only one loss and scored a clutch win over the tough New York IM, Jay Bonin. This norm result comes at an opportune moment when FM Morrison could very well close the book on his quest for an IM title this summer at either the World Open or the Wilbert Paige Memorial tournament.  Morrison told the Drum earlier this year, "I'm only interested in earning the IM title. . . and it's well within my reach." Spoken with words of courage, "The Exterminator" will certainly have support as his result comes as an immediate inspiration to players of African descent. Three cheers for William Morrison!!!
