FM Kassa Korley scored his first IM norm with a strong showing at the New York International. The Duke-bound FM ended on 5.5/9 earning his first International Master norm and pushing his USCF rating to 2365. Korley scored 50% against six IMs and drew with GM Kidambi Sundararajan of India. He will have shots at IM norms at the Philadelphia Open and the World Open.

BTW, that’s not IM Jake Kleiman that they show him playing as he describes the game. In fact, I don’t know who that is judging by his list of opponents!!

No… that’s Justus Williams, a 12-year old Master from the Bronx, New York, very talented player. It appears as if they were playing blitz.
